Paper Fleur is a lifestyle + travel blog that began as a creative outlet and has grown into a source of inspiration for beautiful living. We share everything from well-crafted cocktail recipes to home decor, diys and travel near and far.
We moved to Oakland from Los Angeles a little over a year ago, so you’ll definitely be hearing about our everyday adventures in Oakland/San Francisco with a little Los Angeles mixed in since I get back there pretty often. I’ve fallen in love with Oakland, so my plan in 2017 is to highlight some of the amazing things this city has to offer.
I’m Ronee (aka, Ron junior). My parents literally added 2 e’s to my dad’s name, and called it a day. I may or may not have gone through a stage in middle school where I wanted to change my name to Tiffany. I’m pretty happy I didn’t (no offense to the Tiffanys out there) because I think it suits me.
My dad is Japanese by way of Hawaii and my mom is Irish/English/German/Scottish by way of Kentucky. I’m a hapa by way of California. Hapa literally means ‘half’ in Hawaiian, but it’s also a term that’s been adopted by many people of half-asian descent, which I love. The not exactly fitting into one box thing is something I can totally identify with, be it culturally or otherwise.
It’s the contradictions that make us unique, right?
A few of my contradictions
I love being a homebody + exploring the world.
I love country + 90’s R&B.
I love cold-pressed green juice + biscuits.
I love romantic comedies + crime documentaries.
I started my career as a special education teacher in NYC, but I’d always dreamed of being a writer. In 2008 I packed it up and moved to LA to attend the USC School of Cinematic Arts where I got my MFA in Writing for Screen and Television. I love creating characters and bringing their stories to life, but I also wanted a place of my own to share all the other stuff that inspires me.
Enter, Paper Fleur.
Most days you’ll find me working on a new script in some cozy cafe or out on a little adventure with my husband Jeff and our rescue dogs Landry and Barkley.
Thanks for being a part of my story!
