Looking through photos from our trip to the Sugar Beach Viceroy makes me nostalgic. Nostalgic for that first welcome drink. For the crisp whites of the open air lobby. For our Tuk Tuk ride through the rain.
Saint Lucia was the perfect introduction to the Caribbean, and the Sugar Beach Viceroy, the quintessential island hideaway. Located in Soufriere on the west coast of Saint Lucia, this sugar plantation turned resort starts high in the rainforest, snaking its way down to the most beautiful stretch of white sand beach. It has everything you’d expect from a sprawling Caribbean resort, and then some. The best part though? The location. That white sand beach I was talking about? It sits right between those famous Pitons, and it’s breathtaking.
Once we got there, we didn’t leave the property until check out. Call me lazy, but I’m a firm believer that fancy vacations are for relaxing. And since we were going all in, I decided to book myself a chocolate scrub/wrap at their Rainforest Spa. If I’m being honest, a chocolate rub down is one of those things that sounds a lot better in theory. I think I’ll be sticking to massages from now on. But don’t let that deter you from the spa. Seriously. It was incredible.
From the moment you walk through the long thatch-covered walkway, you’re transported. The treehouse treatment rooms and the stone temascal (Amerindian steam dome) had me feeling like I was one with nature. I mean, as much as you can when you’re at a man-made resort.
If you’re anything like me, you came to this post in search of pictures and probably want me to stop talking. I hear you.
Hope you enjoyed a peek into our stay at the Sugar Beach Viceroy. If you missed Part One, check it out here and please stay tuned for Part Three where I’ll be sharing our stay at the Capella at Marigot Bay. And on that note, I think I need to go make myself a tropical drink. I’ve got some serious wanderlust going on over here.
